A crown is a full cap over a tooth that has lost too much structure for a filling, usually after a large cavity, a crack, or a root canal. We shape the tooth, take an impression, and fit a crown matched to the color of its neighbors so it disappears into your smile.
A bridge does the same job for a missing tooth, anchoring a replacement to the teeth on either side of the gap. Both usually take two visits: one to prepare and one to fit. In between you wear a temporary, and once the final is cemented you brush and chew as if it were your own.
